Fuller, Full-Screen For Web Video

Occasionally I'll watch Sunday night NFL games on the NBCSports.com website. The NBCSports.com video player allows you to watch video full-screen. The problem is that even when watching full-screen, you've got wasted space to allow for the different camera angles that they offer.

NFL on NBC Video Player Window - Full-screen

Here's two ways to increase the size of full-screen video using a built-in MacOS X shortcut.

Recovering Individual Files from Plesk Backup

If you host your website on a server that runs Plesk as the Control Panel, and you actually make back-ups of your server, then at some point you are probably going to want to access the files located on the Plesk generated back-up.

With some free software, it's easier than you think.

MovableType Blogging is Possible From the iPhone

One thing I wondered about in the weeks prior to the release of the iPhone was whether or not blogging through MovableType would be possible or not. Well, now that I have my iPhone I can confirm that it is possible. The experience is not that bad actually. And I'm sure that it will ultimately lead to my becoming a better typer on the iPhone keyboard.

ALERT *NEW EBAY SPOOF EMAIL* ALERT

In a previous tutorial (Citibank Phisher Scheme) I talked about spoof emails and phisher schemes and what you could do to avoid them. This morning (March 12, 2005) I fell for an eBay related phisher scheme. As you can probably imagine I started to panic the minute I realized what I had done.

In this tutorial I'll show you what you can do if you find yourself in the same predicament.

Free iTunes Album

For those who use iTunes as their jukebox (and if you don't then you seriously need to check it out - here) there is a free sampler album that is available for download. The album, entitled iTunes New Music Sampler (Atlantic/Lava Edition) contains 16 songs from various artists, none of which I've ever heard of. But with creative names like Death Cab for Cutie, Louis XIV and Porcupine Tree, you know it has to be good.

First Look - Google Video Search

Google - the search king - constantly innovates. Yesterday on the Google Blog, Google Product Manager John Piscitello announced that they were launching the Beta Version of Google Video. According to the release, Google Video "is a new product that enables you to search an index of transcripts from recent TV programs."

I decided to take Google Video for a test drive today and while it is still an early beta with information for a limited number of channels (dating back to Dec. 2004) it certainly does show some promise.
